Tips On Maximizing The Effectivity Of Mouse Traps

By Robert Thatcher In the United States alone, the estimated damage that mice can incur annually is 1 Billion. This figure is not actually the total economic loss due to the amount of their consumption. But largely due to the things that must be put to garbage after the damage and contamination that they have done. Clothing, books, foods and the likes are contaminated by their droppings and urines and also be partially due to gnawing. Gnawing may cause electrical short circuiting as well impairment of some household items. These are reasons enough why there is a great need to exterminate the specie. To further prove the point, mice are also known to cause some diseases such as leptospirosis, rat fever, salmonelossis and others. Mice are nocturnal in nature, this is why they are seldom seen roaming the household. The only obvious signs that they are present are their droppings and occasional sounds that they make. Another indication is damage to food, stored materials and other household items. The specie is known for their curiosity. With this they seem to have created a habit of inspecting everything in their territory specially the new items. Their habit of searching food is limited only for shorter distances, around 10 feet or so. If the supply of food is enough in a specific place, they normally don’t explore beyond their territories. This is why mouse traps are often effective in eliminating the number of mouse population in certain areas. There are several types of mouse traps. But whichever version you may choose, it is best to maximize the benefit of each. Mouse trap placement is essential. It would be better to observe first the activities and signs of presence of the house pests before doing appropriate actions. The most ideal position of the mouse trap is to place them perpendicular to walls, to snug places, along tubes, tunnels and walls. Some of the best baits for mice are the chocolate and water for live catch but the staples are cheese and peanut butter. It is also best to make use of cotton and other nesting materials. It is advisable to use as many mice traps as possible to increase rate of catch. In some cases, mouse traps don’t work efficiently. This is mainly because the culprits for the loss of the bait are not mice at all. They may often be other pests like roaches, ants and crickets. To ensure better effectivity of catching mice, assure yourself that is mice you are catching. You may seek help by using non-repellant materials to expose anything that may point you to the real culprit. Additionally, be sure that you are using the proper mouse trap. Rattraps don’t effectively capture mice and mouse traps will only cause irritation to rats. if you have a mixed population in your household, you may choose to use T-Rex. This will capture rats a well as mice. Check on your baits. The ultimate and most effective mouse trap bait is the one which effectively lures mice and does not easily detach from the mouse trap. You may try different settings and find which best works for your situation. To further yield better results, expert rodent exterminators often advise the use of more mouse traps containing smaller baits rather than larger amounts of baits for fewer mouse traps. Salary Negotiation is a Sticky Subject

By Peter Fisher After you have received the job offer you might feel that the package needs improving in order for you to accept the position. So what could you do to improve the situation? Wherever possible, don’t try to negotiate immediately after an offer. Make sure you ask for the offer to be put in writing and then try to delay any negotiations for the longest possible time. When you’ve got the job offer in writing you can respond by acknowledging receipt of the offer and making it clear that you will confirm your acceptance within (say) 7 days. This could be longer if necessary but better to let them know if you are going on holiday for instance. Now you have gained yourself some time, use it constructively to investigate the average salary of people in similar positions. You could even contact other companies in your area if they are advertising similar vacancies. Use the internet – a search will quickly throw up various websites and salary calculators you can use. Break down the full package you have been offered and make sure you have clearly identified which areas of the package you would like to see improved. Refrain from making strong demands, but contact the employer and say that whilst you would really like to accept the offer, you were expecting the [basic salary or holiday paid days or car benefit or insurance] to be a little better and if it could be improved you will give your immediate acceptance and agree a start date. If you are having to relocate you could mention this in your negotiations and ask for some assistance with the costs. You should never show an employer that you need the money as this could make you look desperate and decrease your chances of successful negotiation. If the starting salary turns out not to be negotiable you could try asking for an early review “when you’ve proved yourself” after perhaps 3 months. Always remember that you don’t have to accept anything – you can walk away, but if you do accept you may have the opportunity to improve things later. Gastric Bypass – The Nightmare for Food Lovers

By Beverley Brooke While the gastric bypass may seem like the perfect solution to those who are obese, Id like to explain just how the surgery affects the lifestyle of those whove had gastric bypass surgery. If the lovers of food really know the drastic lifestyle change involved in the months and years after gastric bypass surgery then, unless they were considering the operations for alleviating an immediate health concern, certainly wouldnt go through with the gastric bypass procedure. Whys that, you ask? Meal times, snack times, gorgeous roast chicken, beans, carrots, potatoes, naughty cakes and treats are all banished after surgery. Yes you can have your roast chicken and all the normal food you enjoy now (except sweet and salty food), but how does half a cup sound, and thats it! Your full meal could be half a cup of chicken and thats it no more food for that sitting. As your stomach is stapled during surgery it can only hold a certain amount its no miracle that patients of the gastric bypass lose weight rapidly. Its because theyre unable to eat more then that half a cup without feeling sick and full. Its hard as most patients will tell you. With no immediate health concerns, those that are obese could simply cut down the food they eat we arent talking half a cup like those whove had gastric bypass surgery must endure, just a nice healthy balanced diet. The weight will come off I assure you, and you wont need to go under the knife. Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in New York

By Warren Redlich Despite its harsh Rockefeller Drug Laws, New York State is relatively lenient when it comes to marijuana possession. If your attorney knows what he’s doing, a first-time marijuana offense should be resolved with an ACOD (adjournment in contemplation of dismissal) pursuant to Section 170.56 of the Criminal Procedure Law. This applies to the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana violation (221.05 of the Penal Law); Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 5th degree (221.10) and Criminal Possession of Marijuana – 4th (221.15). The latter two are both misdemeanors — crimes. A violation is not a crime. In many courts the judges and prosecutors are aware of this rule and will generally go along with an attorney who makes the motion properly. However, there are courts where prosecutors and judges may not accept this easily. In some courts they will try to get the defendant to do community service as a condition of the ACOD. This is improper. While community service can be a part of a regular ACOD under CPL 170.55, a marijuana ACOD generally comes under CPL 170.56. The former statute specifically mentions community service. The marijuana ACOD statute does not mention community service as an option. In other courts, they may not like the idea of a marijuana user “getting away” with no consequences. This perception is unfair, as the defendant will have endured an arrest and paid an attorney a substantial amount of money. There are consequences. But more important, the legislature decided that an ACOD is how a first-time offense should be handled. An attorney should be able to explain these issues to the local judge handling the case. And if that judge still doesn’t follow the law, the attorney should be able to appeal to a more sensible Court. There will usually be an additional fee for an appeal. To make sure it’s done right, the attorney should review CPL 170.56, make sure to follow all of the requirements of the law, and make a record showing that all of the necessary elements were proven so that any appeal will succeed. It’s important for clients to get the ACOD if possible, especially for young clients. Under federal law, a person convicted of any drug offense is ineligible for financial aid. So that $200 marijuana violation can cost tens of thousands of dollars in lost financial aid. Also, the marijuana ACOD is more than a dismissal. New York law treats it as a nullity – something that never happened. If you’re asked if you’ve ever been arrested, this nullity means that you were not arrested. The records are also supposed to be sealed. If the client requests it, the attorney should follow up with the Court to make sure the records have been sealed. Marijuana Lawyer Warren Redlich handles marijuana charges along with other criminal defense cases such as DWI mainly in the Albany area of New York State. In some circumstances he covers cases further away, including the Binghamton and Rochester areas. Management Consultant Asks: Why Aren’t You Earning Residual Income?

By Dr. Gary S. Goodman I want to say something quite clearly and emphatically, and ask you to repeat it to yourself a few times: MY COMPENSATION IS ENTIRELY ARBITRARY! For example, lets say you write computer programs for a software company that packages your code into products that it sells to customers. You will probably be paid a salary, perhaps earn an annual bonus, and accrue some vacation time. You may also get some benefits, including a partially paid health plan. All of this seems so normal, so typical that you never question this menu of dollars and perks. Sure, you may want a greater helping of salary, but still, as long as there is a salary and a few other goodies, youre set. But what if one of your software programs really takes off in the marketplace? Will you be entitled to receive royalties from it, have any ongoing equity interest in it, or ever be able to claim a bigger desk, a reserved parking space, or any material advantage from its performance? The short answer is no. If you ask your company about it, they may smirk or laugh or just look at you as if youre nuts and say, in a conclusive, parental monotone: We dont do that. They wont say WHY they dont do it, because they probably havent thought it through. In fact, paying you royalties or a residual income may be in their interest, it may spawn innovation, create that extra spark of incentive to attract and retain the very best designers. How, then do companies decide what theyre going to pay? MONKEY-SEE, MONKEY-DO! They imitate each other. Some call it benchmarking, others conduct salary surveys, but the net of it is the same. They mirror each other. Breaking the paradigm is difficult, once it has been established. Let me give you an example. One of my clients is a consultant who shows his clients how to save money on their printed advertising. Specifically, he knows how to tweak ads so they can be smaller, cost less, but yield better results than large ads. He charges a percentage of the savings hes able to generate, which seems very reasonable, right? If he doesnt save them money or improve the ads, they dont pay. Only if they get results do they have to pay. What can be sweeter? But he has found that is not the way his clients want to pay. They prefer paying him for his TIME, which is the way the great majority of consultants bill their clients. They believe, of course, that if they pay only for time, theyll reap the benefit of his expertise, for less. But even if they traded dollars, or if they saved money his way, theyd prefer to do it theirs, which is the traditional way. When it comes to compensation, tradition dies hard. But there is hope, if youre creative, diligent, talented, and they need you. Check out the movie, Ray, about the life of the great singer, Ray Charles. Youll probably like the music, but listen for the part when he insists in his contract negotiations that he own the rights to the masters of his recordings. Theyll tell him its unprecedented, but finally, theyll yield. To borrow a phrase, when it comes to compensation, you dont get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate, and they wont break with tradition, unless and until you do! Dr. Gary S. Goodman is the best-selling author of 12 books, over 600 articles, and the creator of numerous audio and video training programs, including “The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable,” published by Nightingale-Conant-a favorite among salespeople and entrepreneurs. Coming Up with Mulla for Your Plastic Surgery

By Ricardo Silva Plastic surgery is almost always an elective surgery unless there is an underlying medical reason. As such, your medical insurance is probably not going to cover it, which means you must. Coming Up with Mulla for Your Plastic Surgery Unless you can make some unique argument to your health insurance company, it is going to refuse any claim you submit related to plastic surgery. If you read the tiny boilerplate language in your health insurance policy, and it is tiny, you will find it only pays for medically necessary surgery. The terminology differs by policy, but the basic idea is you have to have a note from a doctor indicating the surgery is pivotal for your overall health. Feeling better about your appearance is not a medically necessary basis! Like most medical procedures, plastic surgery is not cheap. Simple botox injections can run a couple of hundred bucks, but most significant procedures are going to run a couple thousand dollars at a minimum. Simply put, you need to give some thought regarding paying for the procedures. The simplest way to handle the cost of paying for plastic surgery is to save up some money and pay in cash. Your surgeon will love you because cash is king, even in plastic surgery. Alternatively, you can also break out a credit card with a high limit and charge it. Ah, plastic paying for plastic surgery. Surely there is some metaphysical message there! In a capitalist economy, there is always a company looking for opportunities. In the world of plastic surgery, more than a few companies offer financing for your procedure. The financing is in the form of an unsecured loan. These lenders will finance all or part of the cost of the procedure, but you should pay close attention to the fine print. Interest rates can be similar to credit cards, which means you end up paying a lot more in the long term. Some physicians accept this form of payment while others do not because of limits put on the payment amount by the companies. Essentially, the companies demand the doctor take less than the normal fee, much as health insurance companies do with most medical professionals. Physicians hate these caps and some simply will not put up with it. Point being, make sure the surgeon in question accepts this form of payment before going through the application process. For most people, the best option for paying for plastic surgery is the old savings account. Since Americans are infamously bad savers, you may want to check out the other options available. Farm Accident Lawyers

By Alison Cole Agricultural farming can be a dangerous occupation. In fact, it is considered one of the most dangerous occupations in the United States. The reason farming is so dangerous is because it involves farmers working with heavy equipment and machinery, often in isolated locations, which puts the farmers at great risks of serious injury. The equipment that farmers use should be designed properly to help prevent injuries by protecting the farmers when they make a mistake. Sometimes, a tractor or other piece of farming equipment is not equipped with the proper safety precautions and warnings. This can lead to serious injuries and even death. Such accidents can seriously affect the lives of the farmer and his family. This lack of proper safety precautions can result in farmers getting crushed or entangled in the equipment, with many of them losing their limbs or parts of their bodies in the process. Farming equipment is not limited to tractors. Power drives, augers, hay bailers, power take-offs, and barn cleaners also fall into the category of farming equipment. Studies show that an estimated 500 to 600 people die every year in farm tractor related accidents. Tractor rollover accounts for a major share of the accidents. If a farming injury occurs due to faulty equipment or because the specific piece of equipment is not equipped with proper safeguards, victims are entitled to financial compensation. This is where farm accident lawyers come into the picture. Farm accident lawyers are lawyers who specialize in farm accidents caused due to faulty machinery or lack of proper safety precautions. These lawyers investigate the case and if they determine that the injury was caused by malfunctioning machinery or improper safeguards, they sue the company concerned and demand financial compensation for the farmer. This financial compensation, though it cannot take away the scars and injuries sustained as a result of the accident, can help the farmer and the members of his family rebuild their lives. If the injury was bad enough to put a stop to farming as a career, the compensation can help the farmer educate himself in a new field and get back his financial independence. Peter Walks on Water, Jesus Feeds 5000 People – Matthew 14:8-33

By Matthew Robert Payne There was heavy dew on the ground and a mist had settled and we were just up chatting when the messengers came to the door and knocked. Andrew got up and opened the door and two of Johns followers came in with a sad and grave look. We all sat down and they told us that John had just been beheaded and was dead and then they began to weep and ask the Rabbi what were they to do. The whole group of us was sad and the Rabbi was trying to re-assure them that all would be fine when his emotions spilled over and he began to weep too. The ladies of the house silently withdrew to another room and all that could be heard were cries and sobbing. In all of my life, and all my time with the Rabbi, I had never seen him weep like he did; loud sobs and all of us simply could not but cry when we saw him so upset. I was weeping and listening at the same time to the Rabbi. John got up and stood behind the Rabbi and put his arms around him from his back and started to hold him and comfort him, but this only made the Rabbi weep more. He was broken that day. We were used to seeing him get sad and upset from time to time, but the sound of our precious teacher sobbing so uncontrollably was just too much for any of the strong men in the room not to be caught up in the crying. How could a leader kill His cousin like that. What was John the Baptist doing so bad that deserved death? Surely this was a warning that we should not preach repentance and be as forthright as that prophet. After fifteen minutes Jesus slowed in His crying and was soon using the hem of His garment to wipe His eyes. I need to go and spend time with my Father. Let us withdraw and spend time before Him. Within twenty minutes we were in a boat and rowing across the lake. Half way across, Jesus started to weep again, once again loud sobs. It tugged at my heart so much. We depended on Jesus and it seemed that this was something a lot bigger then He could handle and it made us row harder and on that journey there was not one dry eye. We landed the boat and suddenly a crowd gathered and the sick were coming to Jesus and begging him to heal. His eyes were red and he was a broken man and we began to try and explain to the people that Jesus needed some time off today and as we began Jesus told us it was okay and He began to lay hands on the sick and began to heal them. The first in line that day was a blind man and as Jesus spoke to the blindness and rebuked it and opened his eyes He told the man that he was going to be a preacher and a healer and that he should follow Him from this day on. The second person was a young girl on a bed and she seemed about twelve. Jesus raised her to her feet and told her that she was to be a dancer and asked her to dance for Him. She beamed with joy and began to dance before Him with glee and I saw a broad smile light my Teachers face. He began to dance with the girl and prophesied that her dancing would one day be used to bring His power to meetings and others would find faith in her testimony to be healed themselves. After He healed her He called John, Andrew and me to join Him and He made signs to the people to form four lines, one line for each of us. I was filled with uneasiness when the first person stepped up to me and as I laid hands on the old man with a withered hand Jesus winked at me and the withered hand was healed and my first person was dancing with joy with the young girl. Half an hour into the healing of the people that day, Jesus eyes filled with tears again and he cried as he laid hands on people and set them free of their infirmities. There is something really touching seeing your Rabbi weep and still heal as He is crying. Inside of me I wanted to know why He was weeping, was it Johns death or was it something bigger then that. It took over an hour that day. There were five thousand men, their wives and children as well as single women. I saw some really fine healings done that day. The power that was coming through my hands was amazing. Jesus broke down at one point and the people just stood and watched Him with compassion in their eyes. It was a solemn day. The people were moved to tears as were us disciples and Jesus took a full ten minutes to gather himself together again before we began again. After everyone was healed and the poor had been given some money from our resources, Jesus sat down and delivered one of His finest teachings I ever heard Him share. He spoke of love and how love can set a nation alight and how love can heal and how important it is for us to use love to bring people to inner healing. He then told us all that John was much loved by Him and that if you do a good enough job loving people and God, evil men may kill you. He called twenty people by name that day and had them approach Him and he prophesied over them in front of all the people. He gave them to power to heal and told them that one day they would serve Him one day with us twelve. He told them that they would know the day to join His disciples but in the meantime they should heal all the sick they know and spread the love He had shared that day. As He spoke more and more people joined the crowd and after He had commissioned the twenty men, He asked the sick that had joined the crowd in the last two hours to come forward. We watched with glee as the twenty men laid hands on the sick and they were healed. The twenty men were so excited with their new power and Jesus then told the crowd that this was the power of love. It was the perfect illustration and there were deaf and dumb and cripples among the healings and the faith in the crowd had really grown on that day. The time came when Jesus blessed the five loaves and the two fish and we distributed it to the crowd. This was a mighty sign and as I walked around with my basket it was continuing to multiply as I gave the food away. Trying to come to grips with this miracle was just too much for me. The people were glad for the food and eager to hear Jesus speak more when they were all fed but Jesus had them go. Then He sent us away and we left in the boat and watched Him walk up the hill. It was the fourth watch of the night when Andrew saw something on the water. We froze with fear thinking we were seeing a ghost when Jesus told it was Him from about twenty feet away. I asked Him if I could also walk on water as faith sparked in me. It had been an awesome day. Jesus agreed and said, Come. I was thrilled to bits as I stepped onto the water and it held me up. I was walking toward Him and I was filled with such joy as I watched my Rabbi smile at me. Within six feet I took my eyes of the Master to look at how my feet were doing what I was doing. As I watched the impossible, fear gripped me and I lost my faith in what my eyes were seeing and I sank. Immediately, I looked to Jesus and cried out to Him. He shot across the water about fifteen feet in a second and pulled me back to the surface. He stood there for a second and held me looking at me and smiled and then gave me a hug. We stood on top of the water and He whispered in my ears. I am not always going to be with you Peter, you need to trust in Me and heal all the sick in this land and the lands beyond. You have to share my love and my Gospel. I am proud of all you did today especially this great sign you did today. People will be speaking of this sign years and few men will ever do this in the history of the world. Now be silent of this and let us walk back to the boat. I am going to hold your hand and we are going to go back now. He pulled away from me and we walked back to the boat to the applause of the other disciples. Jesus was no ordinary man. He is no ordinary man. He is the Son of God and He is mighty and powerful and yet He is the servant of all men. There is no man in the Universe with more power or authority as Jesus. He is exalted in heaven with the name above all names, and yet He is the lowest and the most humble and He still weeps over every person that dies without knowing Him. On this, His saddest day, when His prophet and cousin died He told me that He was crying for a number of reasons. He was crying that He couldnt personally hug and heal everyone in Israel and He couldnt set the country free and He was crying because there were so many people hungry for the Word of God and so few people with the message for them. Wont you send this article to your Christian friends? Wont you send this to your friends that dont know Jesus? Everyone knows that Jesus was supposed to have healed all those people and fed the five thousand. Yet few people know that it was on His weakest and saddest day. The Holy Spirit really does use us in our weaknesses and when we are weak we are strong as the Apostle Paul wrote. May you be blessed. I have some other stories to tell you in the future. Capture the Memories With Photo Album Wedding Favors

By Ashley Rader Adding a photo to a favor is one of the best ways to commemorate your wedding day and to give your guests a great way to remember that big day and how important is was to you. There are quite a few creative ways to do this and it can also be matched to the dcor and style of wedding you are throwing. If you were putting together a beach themed or ocean front wedding, you may fancy the Adirondack place card holders that may have a wedding photo added after the wedding is over. There is also the option of a beach memoirs photo album, which may be for a more formal wedding. And for the more casual affair, there are flip flop place card holders and photo frames, which are a fantastic idea for the barefoot wedding couple who shun tradition for the more unconventional wedding. Photo albums can also be matched to the dcor, theme or season of your wedding. For a beautiful fall wedding, there is the fall memoirs photo album featuring great fall foliage colored leaves. For a formal wedding there is the fabric rose brocade design and for a more casual affair, you could opt for the pressed leaf designs. For a spring time or garden affair, maybe the Calla lily memoirs photo album might suit the occasion. You could also go for magnet photo frames with Roses or Calla Lillys. There is also metal framed photo album and place card holder. Other metal photo frames available include a magnificent wedding coach frame, a pewter swirl place card frame that can later be used to hold a wedding picture. An elegant touch is the silver place card with rhinestones that could also be used for a wedding picture. Photo albums and picture frames make a great favor since they are not only a great accent for the table even practical in the case of place card holders, but they will later serve as a visual reminder of what a wonderful occasion your wedding was and will help hold cherished memories for you and your guests. Planning Your Wedding – How To Choose Your Wedding Party

By E. A. Edwards Getting ready for your wedding, one of the biggest events of your life, is a huge task which can be easy or hard depending upon your preparation. Your wedding day should be a day of fun and celebration, not one filled with worry and stress about things going wrong. When choosing your wedding party, always keep in mind that these are the people whom you will need to help and support you the most throughout the time before your wedding. To make sure that you understand the ins and outs of picking your wedding attendants, here are some tips and hints. For your bridal party, select dependable attendants and give each one a copy of the tentative timeline for the day. Make sure they understand and will be able to accept the responsibility of being a member of the wedding party. Avoid asking children under three years old to participate in the wedding. If you must, let one of the attendants walk with the child or pair them with an older child. The number of ushers and bridesmaid depends on how big and formal the wedding is. Generally speaking, the more formal the wedding, the more ushers and bridesmaids you have to include. Although there is no formal rule, you will probably need to have at least one usher for every fifty guests, and also same number of bridesmaids. However, you can always have as many ushers and bridesmaids as you wish. In today’s weddings, you may find as many as a dozen ushers and sometimes even more bridesmaids. It is not necessary to have an equal number of ushers and bridesmaids. If you are concerned about keeping the numbers even in the processional or recessional, you can have two ushers escort one bridesmaid or you can have one bridesmaid walk alone. For the dances that are scheduled at the reception, you can have a guest dance with the extra usher or the extra bridesmaid. Your bridesmaids are your attendants and they stand by your side during the ceremony. Your future husband’s ushers are his attendants and therefore will stand by his side. If your best friend happens to be male, he can still be your attendant and should stand on your side. If he is going to take the place of the maid of honor, he will be referred to as the honor attendant. During the processional and recessional, he may escort one of the bridesmaids if there are more bridesmaids than ushers, or he can walk alone before the rest of the bridesmaids. Similarly, your ‘husband to be’ can have a female attendant who can stand on his side during the ceremony. She is also referred to as an usher but should not escort guests, especially female ones, to their seats. You and your fianc should choose your bridesmaids and ushers among the people that are closest to you. It is not required or even necessary to include your family member as an attendant especially if he or she is not close to you. That being said, it may go a long way to make future family relationships more congenial if you consider the feelings of family members as you make your wedding plans. Utilizing the skills and special abilities of friends and family can add a special touch to your wedding and reception. If there is a family member that, for whatever reason, you would prefer not to be in the actual wedding party, there are other ways he or she may be able to participate in the wedding. He or she could: Do a reading during the ceremony. Sing a solo or play an instrument during the wedding ceremony. Be the coordinator for decorations. Be a personal attendant. (This person helps the bride on the day of her wedding) Be the person in charge of helping out of town guests find places they need (stores, restaurants, etc). This will take the stress off of the maid of honor and the bridesmaids. Be in charge of the guest book or gift table during the reception. Your wedding will be one of the most memorable occasions of your life. Your family and friends want to be there with you to celebrate so be sure to enjoy and be grateful for their participation in your big day. E. A.
